The church of Caix

Caix ( Picard : Tchai) is a northern French municipality with 740 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Péronne , belongs to the canton of Moreuil and is part of the Communauté de communes Terre de Picardie .

The municipality in the Santerre countryside is located around 4.5 km west of Rosières-en-Santerre at the intersection of the D28 and D41 departmental roads, a few kilometers south of the A29 autoroute and the Amiens-Laon railway line.

history

The road to Harbonnières before the First World War

The remains of a Gallo-Roman villa were found in Caix . The community is first mentioned in 1131 as Caium. The reign, dependent on Corbie , came to the Marquisate of Feuquières in 1646 .

Caix was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914–1918.
