The Ancre is a river in France that runs in the Somme department , in the Hauts-de-France region . It rises in Miraumont , drains in a south-westerly direction and flows into the Somme after around 37 kilometers in the municipality of Corbie as a right tributary .

During the Battle of the Somme in 1916, the Ancre was mentioned a lot in army reports.
The German spring offensive in 1918 came to a standstill at the Ancre.
