The Riviére Déception ( Déception means “disappointment” in French ) is a river in the Canadian province of Québec .

The Rivière Déception runs in the far north of the Ungava Peninsula in the administrative region of Nord-du-Québec . The approximately 100 km long river has its source west of Kattiniq . It initially flows east, then north. Later it turns west and finally flows into the Baie Déception , a bay on the north coast of the Ungava Peninsula. The estuary is 60 km west of Cap de Nouvelle-France on the Hudson Strait . The river drains an area of ​​3885 km². Tributaries of the Rivière Déception are Ruisseau Saputiit , Rivière Déception Est and Rivière Tuttuquaaluk . In addition, the outflow of Lac Françoys-Malherbe flows into the lower reaches of the Rivière Déception.
