Wembley Central is a train station in the London Borough of Brent . It is located in the Travelcard tariff zone 4 on the High Road and is served on the one hand by London Overground local trains between London Euston and Watford Junction , on the other hand by the Bakerloo Line of London Underground . Trains from the Southern Railway Company also stop here . In 2014 5.52 million underground passengers used the station, plus 2.973 million rail passengers.

When the London and Birmingham Railway opened its main line (today's West Coast Main Line ) in 1837 , trains first ran through here. The station opened in 1842 under the name Sudbury . On May 1, 1882, it was renamed Sudbury & Wembley , on November 1, 1910 in Wembley for Sudbury . The electric suburban trains on the parallel Watford DC Line began operation on June 15, 1912, those of the Bakerloo Line on April 16, 1917. Another renaming took place on July 5, 1948 and the station was given its current name. Between September 24, 1982 and June 4, 1984, the Bakerloo Line on the section north of Stonebridge Park was temporarily suspended. In 2006 the station was rebuilt; The most important addition is the new footbridge to the nearby Wembley Stadium , which is only open on days with events.
