The Čáslav – Močovice railway was a railway connection in the Czech Republic that only served goods traffic and was originally built and operated by the Austrian Local Railway Company (ÖLEG) as a state-guaranteed local railway . It ran from Čáslav to Močovice in the Středočeský kraj . The line was shut down in 1965, only a short section in the urban area of Čáslav remained as a connecting line for a chemical company.

history

On July 30, 1881, the ÖLEG was granted “ the right to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Časlau station of the Časlau-Zawratezer local train to Močovic ”. It was legally stipulated that the new line with the existing Časlau – Zawratez local railway should be viewed as a single company. The ÖLEG was also obliged to start construction of the line immediately and to finish it by October 1, 1882 and "hand it over to public transport ".

The ÖLEG opened the line on October 30, 1882. The ÖLEG carried out the operation itself.

From July 1, 1889, the Austrian Northwest Railway (ÖNWB) took over the management on behalf of the owner. After the nationalization of the ÖLEG on January 1, 1894, the line came into the ownership of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). The ÖNWB was finally nationalized in 1909, so management was also transferred to the kkStB.

As a result of the First World War lost by Austria , the line belonged to the network of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) from 1918 .

The sugar factory in Močovice presented at the time of the Great Depression in 1930 a production. After that, traffic to Močovice sank to a minimum. In 1965 the line was closed. The section up to the Kosmos chemical factory in Čáslav was converted into a connecting railway and is still in operation today. The company, which has been operating as Zenit since 1994, produces soaps and cleaning agents.

The track body of the former local railway is still almost completely preserved today. Sometimes it is used as a driveway. The Močovice reception building is used for residential purposes.
