The Nong Pladuk Junction – Malai Maen railway is the fragment of a plan that provided for a direct link between the southern and northern lines , bypassing Bangkok. It is operated by the Thai State Railways. Your mileage is done from Bangkok Thonburi .
history
Construction began in 1954 from the south, but was discontinued in 1957 when the stretch to Si Samran was largely completed. 1961/1962 construction continued and Malai Maen - immediately behind Suphan Buri - was reached. Here the construction got stuck again due to a lack of finances - and until today: finally - stuck.
With Suphan Buri, however, a city of a size was reached that allowed for meaningful operation. On the other hand, on the small stretch from Suphan Buri – Malai Maen (1.5 km), there was never any scheduled operation. According to other information, there is a shuttle service there that enables a connection to the one train that goes to Bangkok every day .
The extension of the line was never officially given up, but is not operated.
