Bai (honorary title)

Bai , hindi बाई (transcription bāī ), is a respectful form of address or an Indian honorary title for women, meaning "madam", "madam (e)".

It is placed after the name, e.g. B. with Tara Bai , Ahilya Bai Holkar .

It is also used for singers or dancers, also in the sense of " prostitute ".
