Baischstrasse
The Baischstraße is an Art Nouveau -Siedlung of Hermann Billing in Karlsruhe .
It was built between 1900–1903, on the western edge of the city center, on a former lumber yard. In the villa colony , five houses are offset from one another on a cul-de-sac .
The gate building on Kaiserplatz contained rental apartments and studios. Its facade was decorated with opulent decorations, including a larger than life gilded statue of a naked woman. After being damaged in the Second World War, the upper floors were initially not built at all, later in a greatly simplified manner. The archway was painted with monumental paintings by Hans Adolf Bühler , which were not weather-resistant and of which only the titles have survived.
The street name refers to the painter Hermann Baisch .
