Bakauheni is a port city on the southern tip of the Indonesian island of Sumatra .
Bakauheni is located in Lampung Province , south of the capital, Bandar Lampung .
The Trans-Sumatra Highway begins in the city and leads across Sumatra in the north to Banda Aceh . An important ferry connection leads over the Sunda Strait to Merak on the neighboring island of Java .
Not far from the port, the Siger Tower rises on a hill .
