Bakenhof

The Bakenhof is a former knightly castle fief and a landmark of the Krefeld suburb of Linn . The listed building is on the corner of Mauerstrasse and Rheinbabenstrasse.

The Bakenhof includes a five-storey, square tower with a tent roof, a residential building consisting of two right-angled wings and the gate building. The gate building extends along the Rheinbabenstrasse and shows the coat of arms of the Heinsberg family, who lived in the property for over 200 years.

The castle loan probably owes its name to the Bake family, who owned the property at the end of the 14th century. The knight's fief that formerly belonged to Linn Castle (like the Issumer Tower ) was owned by the von Quadt family in the 16th century, and by the von Heinsberg family from around 1670 until the end of the 19th century, today the Raitz von Frentz family . Of the oldest structure, only the modernized tower, which was probably raised in the first half of the 19th century, remains.
