Balak (person)
Balak ( Hebrew בָּלָק), a son of Zippor, is a king of Moab mentioned in the Old Testament and in the Hebrew Bible , the Tanakh .
In the Bible
After the twelve tribes of Israel had defeated the tribes of the Amorites in a battle, Balak and ambassadors from Midian sent messengers to Pethor on the Euphrates to bring Balaam from Mesopotamia . According to the Biblical Archeology Review (September / October 1985), evidence was found that Balaam was known to the Moabites .
