Balham Lake

Balham Lake is a small lake near the center of the Balham Valley in East Antarctic Victoria Land .

The lake was named after the American geologist Parker E. Calkin (1933-2017) in 1964 , who named it after the surrounding valley. This in turn is named after Ronald (Ron) Walter Balham (1921-1999), a geologist of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958), who between 1957 and 1958 was the first to carry out biological studies of the freshwater occurrence in this area.
