Ballad of the depraved old men
The ballad of the corrupted Greisen is a song by Wolf Biermann and was performed for the first time on December 1, 1989 in Leipzig at his first concert appearance in the GDR after his expatriation. This concert took place in the Leipziger Messehalle 2 and was broadcast live for the first time on both West German and GDR television . The song consists of five stanzas and deals very critically with five of the leading figures of the GDR at the time: Egon Krenz , Kurt Hager , Erich Mielke , Karl-Eduard von Schnitzler and Erich Honecker .
