Bale (paper)
Bale was a counting measure for paper and comprised 10 neuries of 10 books (measure) to 10 layers (measure) of 10 sheets (measure) , so a total of 10,000 sheets.
In old dimensions:
- Writing paper 1 bale = 10 reams = 200 books = 4800 sheets
- Printing paper 1 bale = 5000 sheets
In Portugal the measure was different and
- 1 bale = 32 reams of 17 books and 5 sheets
- 1 book = 5 cadernos = 25 sheets
Also different in France
