Ballet du XXe siècle
The Ballet du XX e siècle ("Ballet of the Twentieth Century") was an innovative classical ballet company founded in 1960 by the French choreographer Maurice Béjart in Brussels .
The company was based in Belgium until 1987 when Béjart moved to Lausanne and started a new company there. The main house of the ensemble was the opera La Monnaie , although some productions went beyond the dimensions of the stage of the theater and were created for the large sports stadium.
With the Ballet du XX e siècle , Béjart created several large productions such as Les Quatre Fils Aymon (1961), Messe pour le Temps présent (1967), Nijinsky (1972), I Triomfi del Petrarca (1974; music: Luciano Berio ), Notre Faust (1975), Le Molière imaginaire (1976), Dichterliebe / Amor di Poeta (1975), Vienna, Vienna only you alone (1982), Thalassa Mare Nostrum (1982), Dionysos (1984), Le Concours (1985), Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien (1986) and Trois Préludes Alexandre .
