Ballivián (lake)
The Ballivián was a lake that is said to have been located in the Pleistocene (1,600,000-10,000) on the current border between Peru and Bolivia in the Andes . It is said to have filled the entire area of the current Altiplano . After its dissolution, it formed two smaller lakes, Lake Titicaca in the north of its area and Lake Minchin , the predecessor of what is now Lake Poopó , in its south. It is believed that its level was about 100 m above the level of what is now Lake Titicaca.
