Balloon helicopter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A balloon helicopter is a toy helicopter powered by compressed air which uses a commercially available toy balloon as a compressed air tank. Such a balloon helicopter consists of a mostly three-bladed rotor which is light for weight reasons and to prevent injuries, the hub of which has a corrugated spout on the underside onto which the balloon is attached . The air flows through small tubes from the center of the propeller through the blades to the wing tips, where it escapes through nozzles. The recoil of the outflowing gas causes the rotor - just like the balloon hanging from it - to rotate, which causes the entire arrangement to experience a lift.

The material of such helicopters often consists of various plastics , depending on the requirements of the respective components.

A balloon helicopter can fly with a filled balloon for up to 20 seconds and reach a height of up to 12 meters.
