The Ballymena Showgrounds is a stadium in Ballymena , Northern Ireland . It has been the home of Ballymena United FC since 1928 .

The showgrounds

In addition to the stadium, the showgrounds also include four other grass fields and one artificial turf and one ash field. One of these fields is used by United amateurs and another by Wakehurst FC . The other places are played by various youth and amateur teams.

The stadium

The stadium offers 3,000 seats and 2,000 standing places. These are distributed over the two long sides of the field.

New Stand

The New Stand replaced the Clock Stand , which was demolished in 2001 for the construction of the new grandstand. It has a seat for around 1800 supporters of the home team and is completely covered. It also includes around sixteen changing rooms, offices and bars, as well as press and club facilities. The first game with the new grandstand, which runs parallel to the sideline, was in the 2002 Ulster Cup against the Carrick Rangers . However, it was officially opened with a game against the Bolton Wanderers . The main stand, which was built for £ 3 million, still has no name to this day. However, this problem should be solved by selling it to a sponsor.

Warden Street Stand

The Warden Street stand was built in 1977 for £ 250,000 as the old wooden grandstand burned down. It opened in 1980 in the All-Ireland Cup against Shamrock Rovers . The grandstand has just over 1200 seats and is fully covered. In front of the seats there is standing room for around 2000 standing trailers. Until the New Stand opened, the Warden Street Stand was the main stand. Lately there have been reports that the grandstand will be expanded to 2000 seats.
