Bambali is a German internet exchange for goods and services founded in 2004 . The project is privately organized and independent. Operations will cease on March 31, 2020.

history

Bambali was created in the summer of 2004 as a free exchange platform for goods and services with the intention of offering an internet platform based on the principle of local exchange groups. The platform is a further attempt in the field of online file sharing, as the second hand made years earlier .

In July 2012 a new software was used and the currency was renamed Bambali-Taler. The platform was significantly reformed in the course of this update. The Bambali exchange was reported in 2007 and 2008 in test comparisons with other Internet exchange exchanges.

functionality

Members of the exchange platform can publish exchange advertisements and exchange personal messages with one another. If a swap deal negotiated in this way, it usually comes to conclude a contract on the exchange directly between members.

As part of the exchange trade is either directly exchanged (goods for goods) or it will be the Bambali-own exchange currency (Bambali-pounds) used. Giving is also possible. Buying and selling is permitted under certain conditions, especially in a separate section "Buy / Sell" and in the form of small amounts, subordinate additional payments or stamps. At Bambali, all exchange modalities, such as the type of goods delivery, shipping and warranty, are the responsibility of the exchange parties - the operator does not make any specifications for this.

Complementary currency

Version 1 (until 2012)

The platform's own exchange currency followed a special system of money creation that was specially developed for Bambali until July 2012 . Basically, it worked in such a way that every member who successfully identified himself to the platform administration by means of an identification application received an exchange credit ("exchange overdraft facility"). Each identified member received a basic loan of the same amount, which was additionally expanded by a mechanism to alleviate the effects of hoarding . In this system, the alternative economic roots of the exchange platform were clearly visible.

Version 2 (from 2012)

From July 2012, the credit-based monetary system was replaced by a performance-based system. The exchange overdraft facility was completely eliminated because it was prone to over-indebtedness and deadweight effects, which often occur in local exchange groups. Instead, participants are rewarded with thalers for certain activities.

Talers are no longer used exclusively for exchange purposes between exchange partners, but are also required for certain functions of the platform. They can be used to place, push and extend the advertisements or be exchanged for lots for the "Bambali Lotto" (a weekly competition). Bambali talers can also be offered for sale or searched for directly on the platform.

Safety precautions

A basic control of the member identity by the operator is not intended. However, there is a 3-part security concept that enables members to assess swap partners.

Rating System

How reliable individual members of this exchange platform are can be seen from the ratings and comments that exchange partners can leave in the user profile of each member. At Bambali (in contrast to many popular online marketplaces) ratings are given per capita, as there is no system for the exact tracking of individual exchange processes.

Contact lists

Each user maintains two contact lists (similar to an address book). The "Swap Friends" list contains positive contacts, the "Swap Trolls " list contains negative contacts. In the user profile of each member, it is publicly visible how often positive or negative entries are recorded for the member.

ID membership

The personal data of the members are usually secret and also not required during registration. Every member is free to provide proof of ID online. For this purpose, an identification document must be uploaded. The operator checks the document and approves ID membership. ID members can see each other's names and, under certain conditions, their addresses in the user profile.
