Bamberg zaubert is an international street and variety festival lasting several days in Bamberg .

The festival has been held annually on the third weekend in July in Bamberg since 1999 . With more than 200,000 visitors, according to the organizers, Bamberg is one of the largest free street and cabaret festivals in Germany. All visitors, regardless of their financial circumstances, have the opportunity to get to know the variety of street art and variety shows.

In 2019 there were more than 500 individual artist performances on over 25 stages or places in the city center of Bamberg.

Bamberg zaubert starts with the annual artist parade through the center of Bamberg with all participating artists on the Friday of the festival.

During the three-day festival, a wide range of street art is presented, from magic to diabolo, juggling and acrobatic shows to fire illusions.

At the 21st Street and Variety Festival Bamberg zaubert 2019 around 50 individual artists or artist groups with over 100 actors from around 30 nations performed. In addition to the artist performances, a music program is organized.

The highlight of every day of the festival are the Magical Nights, when the audience can experience the highlights of magic, artistry and fire art on the large main stage at Bamberg's Maxplatz.

Street festivals thrive on interaction with the audience. Therefore, instead of a fee, the performing artists receive what is known as “hat money” from the audience. In addition to the well-deserved applause, the audience can honor the performances of the artists with a small contribution. The organizer bears the costs for travel, accommodation and meals for the artists.

The audience award is an integral part of Bamberg's magic. The winners are determined directly by the festival audience by choosing their favorite artists from three categories using a participation certificate.

In the early afternoon of the festival Saturday, the focus is on promoting young artists with the up-and-coming show. There, young up-and-coming artists have the opportunity to put their skills to the test on the big stage.

The Bamberg Street & Variety Festival Bamberg has been supporting the Don Bosco Jugendwerk with the sale of festival badges since 2019.

Bamberg zaubert is organized by Stadtmarketing Bamberg eV Artistic director has been Markus Götz since 2004, and the festival director has been Bamberg City Manager Klaus Stieringer since 2004.
