Ban Phak Top
Ban Phak Top ( Thai : บ้าน ผัก ต บ ) is an archaeological site in the province of Udon Thani in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan . It is located about 15 km west of Ban Na Di .
Location and excavation history
During the 1970s the place was systematically ransacked, so that the nearby village of Ban Phak Top was littered with archaeologically valuable objects. In 1976 Schauffler excavated a smaller area at the edge of the hill, the only intact place he could find. However, he was unable to unearth any graves.
Finds
The place was in the 2nd millennium BC. Inhabited as radiocarbon dates show. Remaining from the above grave robberies are black clay pots that were fired and decorated with curved lines, similar to the early ceramics by Ban Chiang .
