Banco Hipotecario del Uruguay (building)
The Banco Hipotecario del Uruguay is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .
The building, which was built in 1956 as a result of a competition for its construction, is located in the Barrio Cordón on Avenida Fernández Crespo 1500-1508 , Avenida 18 de Julio and Calle Arenal Grande . South opposite the intersection on Avenida 18 de Julio is delimited by the Cnel. Branding the Plazuela Silvestre Blanco . As architects recorded E. Acosta , H. Brum , C. Careri and A. Stratta responsible. Between 2003 and 2006, facade work was carried out under the direction of the architects F. Castro , A. Gervaz and D. Minetti . The building houses the headquarters of the Banco Hipotecario del Uruguay (BHU), founded on March 24, 1892 during Julio Herrera y Obes ' presidency, as well as offices and shops.
