Jan Philipp Rabente (born July 3, 1987 in Essen ) is a German hockey player and Olympic champion .

Life

Since 2002 Rabente has been active in the youth teams of the DHB . In 2003 he won the title at the U16 European Championship in Barcelona; In 2008 he finished third with the German team at the U21 European Championship. The midfielder made his debut on August 19, 2005 in the German national hockey team . But only when he came second at the European Championships in 2009 he was part of the squad at an international championship, at the end of 2009 he was only defeated by the Australian hosts with the German team in the final of the Champions Trophy . The German team also lost to the Australians in the final of the 2010 World Cup in New Delhi.

At the Olympic Games in London , Jan Philipp Rabente became Olympic champion on August 11, 2012 with a 2-1 win in the final against the Netherlands with Germany and scored both German goals.

So far, Rabente has played 90 international matches. (As of July 27, 2013)

Rabente played at Uhlenhorst Mülheim since his youth . He is studying economics. For the 2013/14 season Rabente moved to Uhlenhorster HC in Hamburg .
