Banco de Sóller
The Banco de Sóller was a Spanish private financial institution in the port city of Sóller on the Balearic island of Mallorca .
history
The Sóller Bank was founded in 1899 by Spanish business people returning to their homeland from France and Latin America. The modernist bank building on Constitution Square ( Plaça de sa Constitució, 21 ) is right next to St. Bartholomew's Church and was designed by the Catalan architect and Gaudí student Joan Rubio i Bellver . Construction began in 1909 and was completed in 1912. Structurally, the building has three floors and two corner limestone facades. The facades show the same rustic stone texture as the adjacent church, whose neo-Gothic facade is also by Rubio. The corner balcony with a fluted column shows the typical architectural style of Antoni Gaudí . The ironwork of the window arches on the ground floor is a specialty .
In December 1943, the Banco de Sóller merged with the Banco Hispano Americano . Today the building is used by Banco Santander .

The listed building is registered under the number RI-51-0010615 in the list of Bien de Interés Cultural .
