Joan Rubió
Joan Rubió i Bellver (born April 24, 1870 in Reus , † November 30, 1952 in Barcelona ) was a Catalan architect of Modernism .
Collaboration with Gaudí
Joan Rubió was one of Antoni Gaudí's students . Until 1905 he worked on numerous of his projects:
- Sagrada Família
- Casa Calvet
- Casa Batlló
- Bellesguard
- Parque Güell
- Restoration of the Cathedral of Palma in Mallorca
- Together with Francesc Berenguer , he also played a significant role in the planning of the Colònia Güell , where, in addition to the settlement planning for the cooperative, he also built two buildings, the Ca l'Ordal (1894) and the Ca l'Espinal (1900).

politics and society
As a member of the Lliga Regionalista , a conservative Catalan party, Rubió was councilor in Barcelona in 1905. He was also an employee of the Mancomunitat de Catalunya , the association of the Catalan district administrations.
As an official architect of the city council of Barcelona, he led some minor modifications to the Palau de la Generalitat by (seat of the Catalan regional government), such as the famous neo-Gothic bridge connecting the Palau and the complex cases dels Canonges in the street carrer del Bisbe just behind the Cathedral .
From 1904 to 1906 and from 1912 to 1914 Rubió was president of the arch-conservative Catholic "Circle of Artists of Saint Luke" ( Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc ).
