In contrast to other systems customary in the industry, which are based on a mainframe architecture, Bancos is designed as a modular client-server system . The respective applications can run individually and can therefore also be integrated into existing system environments.

Bancos covers the areas of lending business (i.e. all types of credit , including card and checking accounts ), deposit business ( savings deposits and financial investments ), as well as the securities area and provides these functionalities with a general ledger (including property, plant and equipment and accounts payable ) and automated reporting . Bancos supports multiple currencies and has multilingual, operating system-independent user interfaces.

The platform currently runs on Linux , HP-UX and Solaris (as of July 2007).

Bancos or one of its modules is used by around 70 credit institutions in Germany (as of July 2007).
