Banda Beijo is a Brazilian Axé band from Bahia .

history

Banda Beijo was founded as a carnival block, the Bloco Beijo, in 1988. The front singer at the time was Netinho , actually Ernesto de Souza Andrade Junior (born July 12, 1966 in Santo Antônio de Jesus / State of Bahia). Originally conceived as an Axé band, Banda Beijo also uses stylistic elements from artists such as Tim Maia or The Police . In 1992 Netinho left the band and began a career as a solo artist with Polygram / Universal Music . For several years there was a legal battle between the group and their marketer, so that the name Banda Beijo could not be used for six years. In 1998 Banda Beijo formed a new formation with the singer Gil, actually Gilmelândia Palmeira dos Santos. Gil left the band in 2002 to begin a solo career as well. In 2009 Levi Alvim joined the group and had great success with the song Senha from the album Procurando Beijo . Other well-known songs include Peraê and Badameiro .
