The Banff oil field is located in the North Sea 200 km east of Aberdeen .

Location and raw material deposits

The Banff oil field is located in the North Sea in the territorial waters of the United Kingdom . Based on the division of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf , the Banff oil field is located in blocks 29 / 2a and 22 / 27a. It is estimated that the oil reserves of this field are between 20 and 110 million barrels . The occurrence lies at a depth between 1.3 km and 2.3 km.

Production began in February 1999, with daily production between 6,000 and 34,000 barrels. After 3 days the production was stopped again. The production and storage unit (FPSO) Petrojarl Banff had to go to the shipyard for maintenance until March 2001. The Petrojarl Banff can produce up to 60,000 barrels of oil a day. The extracted oil is brought ashore using double-hulled tankers with a capacity of 500,000 barrels each.
