Erol Kaynak (born July 19, 1934 in Muğla ) is a former Turkish football player and coach. Through his work for Galatasaray Istanbul he is associated with these associations. For a short time he was part of the Galatasaray team that had a strong influence on Turkish football in the 1960s with players like Metin Oktay , Kadri Aytaç , Suat Mamat , Uğur Köken and Turgay Şeren . Since Erol Boralı , another Erol, moved to Galatasaray in the summer of 1961 and he was younger, Kaynak, as was common in Turkish football at the time, was henceforth called Büyük Erol (German: The Great Erol ) and Boralı was called Küçük Erol (German: The little Erol ). He played either in the left or right central midfield.

Player career

Altay Izmir

The beginnings of Kaynak's football career, as well as his place of birth and date are unknown or contradictory documented. Depending on the source, Nazilli or Muğla is given as the place of birth . Information about his date of birth is 1932, July 19, 1934 and January 1, 1936.

Kaynak probably began professional football in 1955 at Altay Izmir . At that time there was no international professional league in Turkey. Instead, regional leagues existed in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul , Ankara and Izmir, of which İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi (German: Istanbul Professional League ) was considered the most renowned and İzmir Profesyonel Ligi (German: Professional League Izmir ) came third. Altay took part in the latter in the competition and was the most successful club in the league with 14 championships won. Kaynak began playing for Altay in this league from the summer of 1955. And 1957 1958. With his club he won the league championship in the seasons 1956/57 and 1957/58. In 1958 he also played with his club in the Federasyon Kupası (German Association Cup ).

From the spring of 1959, Kaynak and Altay took part in the newly founded and nationwide Millî Lig (today's Süper Lig). This new league replaced the previous regional leagues in the larger metropolitan areas, such as the Izmir professional league . The first season of the Millî Lig was played from February 1959 to June 1959 and ended with a win for Fenerbahçe Istanbul . This season Kaynak was used in twelve of 14 possible league games and scored four goals. He was behind Ayhan Elmastaşoğlu together with Ahmet Kulaksız the second most successful goalscorer of his team. His team finished the league in 3rd place in the table.

Galatasaray Istanbul

After Kaynak had made a good impression in the first Milli-Lig season, his contract with Altay had expired and no transfer was necessary for him as an amateur player, several richer Istanbul clubs took notice of him. In the summer of 1955 he was first associated with Karagümrük SK and then with Beşiktaş Istanbul . Contrary to your first prospect, Kaynak moved to Galatasaray Istanbul in July 1959 . Here he received a salary of 20,000 Turkish Lira . At Galatasaray he was mainly used in the regular formation by head coach Leandro Remondini , scored six goals in 29 league games in his first season and was one of the most dangerous players on his team. Since the team in the league missed the championship weeks before the end of the season, the club's former player legend, Gündüz Kılıç , was hired as head coach for the new season . This waived in his first season, the Milli-Lig season 1960/61 , on Kaynak and used him in only five league games. The team played this season until the last matchday with arch rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul for the Turkish Championship and then awarded it with one point difference. The following season, the season 1961/62 , ended Kaynak's team by winning the first Turkish championship in the club's history. This season Kaynak played in the team planning of Kılıç an even smaller role than in the previous season and completed only two league games.

Izmirspor

After Kaynak had hardly received any stakes in the last two seasons at Galatasaray, he moved to league rivals Izmirspor in the summer of 1962 . For this club he played two seasons. The further course of his career is not known.

Coaching career

Kaynak started working as a coach after his playing career. His coaching career is similar to his playing career little documented. In February 1974, Bayram Dinsel took over the position of head coach at Altay Izmir and looked after the team until the end of the season. In May 1990 he replaced the head coach Erkan Kural again at Altay and looked after the team on an interim basis until the end of the season.

In the 1990s he worked as a youth coach for Izmirspor and Altay Izmir. During this time he discovered later national players like Alpay Özalan .

In the 1999/00 season he was head coach of the third division Bergamaspor .
