Banfield (Argentina)
Banfield is a city in the Lomas de Zamora administrative district in the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina . Banfield is about 14 km south of Buenos Aires , has 223,898 inhabitants and a population density of 7,851 inhabitants per km² (as of 2001).
Banfield was settled in the 1880s with the help of a train station built there in 1873. This bears her name in memory of the British railway entrepreneur Edward Banfield .
The football club CA Banfield , founded in 1896, plays in the Argentine first division . Banfield also houses the Julián Aguirre Conservatory , which was founded in 1951 by the composer and conductor Alberto Ginastera .
