Bangkok Aquarium
The Bangkok Aquarium ( Thai : สถาน แสดง พันธุ์ สัตว์ น้ำ จืด กรุงเทพมหานคร or สถาน แสดง พันธุ์ สัตว์ น้ำ กรุงเทพฯ ) is the oldest aquarium in Thailand .
The Bangkok Aquarium was founded in 1940 and is located on the campus of Kasetsart University in Bangkok . It is home to over 560 species of freshwater fish in the country and around 100 species of aquatic plants . The types of fish include
- the wolverine shark
- the giant barbel , also known as the Siamese giant carp
- the Siamese tigerfish ( Datnioides microlepis )
The aquarium is subordinate to the Thai fisheries authority and is also operated by them.
