Bank Norwegian AS is a Norwegian internet bank providing loans, credit cards and savings accounts to consumers. The company was founded in November 2007 and is headquartered in Fornebu . It is also located in the Norwegian office building Diamanten ('The Diamond'). Norwegian Air Shuttle owns 20% of the bank. The turnover in 2015 was NOK 1.5 billion, which is approximately EUR 151 million.
history
In May 2007, Norwegian Air Shuttle announced that it intends to join the banking sector as CEO of the new Norwegian bank with Erik Jensen, who was previously CEO of yA Bank and Forsikring AS (yA Bank and Insurance). In September 2007 Bank Norwegian received a banking license from the Norwegian Ministry of Finance . In October 2007 Norwegian announced that it would start a combined credit and bonus card program (Norwegian Reward) with a bonus of up to 20% for international flights and 1% of the purchase price for all credit purchases. The envisaged synergies between the bank and the airline became a reality. The bank started services in Sweden in May 2013 and in Denmark and Finland in December 2015. On April 5, 2016, the parent company Norwegian Finans Holding announced plans to list Norwegian Finans Holding ASA on the Oslo Stock Exchange in the second quarter of 2016 .
