Banquet (hotel)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A banquet is a department within a hotel that is specially designed for hosting large celebrations ( banquets ).

The main business in most hotels, however, is meetings , seminars and conferences offered and carried out by this department. In many companies, the banquet is managed with the banquet service (BQT service) as the operational department and the banquet sales (BQT sales) as the administrative department, which is headed by the economic director (F&B manager) among others.

Because of the extensive tasks, this department - which is designed for celebrations of up to several hundred people depending on the size of the hotel - is naturally very personnel-intensive in every hotel and needs large storage rooms for the quantities of material for all occasions.

Types of seating, seating

Seating (English set up ) is generally understood to mean the structure of a room for a conference or an event. The most important forms of seating in modern congress tourism include theaters or rows of chairs (no tables), U-shaped tables, block tables, classrooms, parliamentary tables, fishbones or banquets (round or square tables). The choice of seating depends largely on the character of the event and the (content) objective of the organizer. For meetings with a strongly communicative and interactive character, a U-board or block board is more likely to be used. Theater seating (if you don't need to take notes) or classrooms (chairs and tables) are more suitable for lectures and training courses. A special form of banquet seating (round or square groups of tables with chairs) is called cabaret or coffee house seating. With this type of setup, the table groups are only partially seated, so that all guests have the opportunity to view the presentation area without having to turn their backs on the table.
