The three-storey building from 1923 in the style of the 1920s with the distinctive arched arcades and the clinker brick facade was built for the Reichsbank branch in Schwerin according to the plans of the Reichsbank construction office in Berlin under the direction of Reichsbank construction director Philipp Nitze .
In front of the building on Goethestrasse there is a listed drinking water fountain from 1927 with a flight of stairs from the lower to the upper street.

After 1990 the house was used as a residential building with the Schwerin branch of the Deutsche Bundesbank on the ground floor. A planned new building for the Bundesbank, Head Office Hamburg, in Schwerin on Werderstrasse was not realized in May 2001.
