The Bannalpsee is a reservoir in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden .
history
The reservoir was created from 1935 to 1937 when the Oberrickenbach power station was built. It is located on Bannalp, which is part of the Wolfenschiessen community, and has a usable content of 1.3 million cubic meters of water. The lake is dammed by an earth embankment dam. The decision to build was made by a clear majority and against the will of politics and business in the Nidwaldner Landsgemeinde on April 29, 1934, and then led to the almost complete removal of the cantonal government.
The Bannalp is accessed by a cable car from Oberrickenbach and is a suitable starting point for a hike to the Chaiserstuel .
dam
The dam of the Bannalpsee has a length of 181.5 meters and a height of 30.3 meters with a crown width of six meters. The dam crest is at 1588 m above sea level. M. , the dam overflow at 1585 m above sea level. M. The sole height is 1568 m above sea level. M. Tamped clay, which is between 2.1 and 5.5 meters thick, serves as the sealing core. This core is held on both sides by a support body. The water side is paved with stones to protect against the impact of waves and ice drifts and has a slope of 1: 2.25. The air side has a layer of humus on top and has a slope of 1: 2. The operator of the Bannalp power plant is the Nidwalden cantonal electricity company, or EWN for short.
The altitude on today's maps is 1587 m above sea level. M. specify. The difference between the map information and the height information on the building plans can be explained with a new measurement.
