Baofan ( 宝 梵 镇 , Bǎofàn Zhèn ) is a large municipality in the southwest of the People's Republic of China . It belongs to the administrative area of Pengxi County , which in turn is subordinate to the prefecture -level city of Suining in Sichuan Province . It is named after the Baofan Temple (宝 梵 寺) from the time of the Northern Song Dynasty, which is located in its area .

The large community has an area of ​​39.4 square kilometers, 13,300 inhabitants (2017) and is 15 km away from the center of Pengxi. The core settlement has 1500 inhabitants. The terrain is hilly and slopes from north to south, the average height is 400 m. The Xiaotong He (小 潼 河) flows from east to west over a length of four kilometers through the area of ​​the large community. There are three reservoirs in Baofan: the Hongxing Reservoir (红星 水库), the Yangliuba Reservoir (杨柳 坝 水库), and the Zhanghai Reservoir (长 海 水库).

In 2016, 500 hectares of Szechuan pepper were grown and the cultivation of 6 new varieties of sweet potatoes expanded to 22 hectares. For meat production there are 26 farms with over 50 pigs, three with over 1000 pigs, and one farm with over 10,000 pigs, one farm with over 150,000 slaughtered geese per year. A total of 250,000 rabbits and 50,000 chickens are produced per year in several factories in the larger community.

In the village of Xinzhang (新 长 村) there is a project to produce birch honey and peony honey. Peonies were planted on 20 hectares, robust varieties with high nectar production were selected, and bee colonies were cultivated. Together with the irrigation ditches and ponds created for this purpose, the facility also became a tourist attraction.

The G42 motorway from Shanghai to Chengdu runs through the large community.
