Barbara Lesjak

Barbara Lesjak (born June 24, 1970 ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ). Lesjak was a member of the Carinthian state parliament from 2004 to 2018 . From March 2013 she was the club chairwoman of the Green Club.

education and profession

After primary school, Lesjak attended high school and a tourism college. She then studied philosophy / group dynamics at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt and completed her studies with the academic degree Mag. Phil. from. Then she began a doctoral degree and completed her doctorate with a thesis entitled: The Art of Politics. A philosophical and social science contribution to political education.

Lesjak has been a freelance worker at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Training (IFF) in Klagenfurt since 1995 and, from 2001 to 2013, a university assistant at the Institute for Philosophy and Group Dynamics, then at the Institute for Group Dynamics and Organizational Development.

Politics and functions

Lesjak has been a member of the Carinthian state parliament since March 31, 2004. She has been the Green Club chairwoman since March 2013. Her thematic priorities are according to her own statements, social affairs, democracy, migration, education and economy. Lesjak has been a member of the Green Education Workshop since 1996 and was part of the board. Since 2004 she has also been a member of the Provincial Board of the Carinthian Greens .

Since 2006, Lesjak has been a board member of the Carinthian network against poverty and social exclusion and board member of the Klagenfurt women's refuge. In 2007 she also took over the functions of a board member and board member in the Europahaus and became a member of the action committee for humanity and tolerance in Carinthia.

In February 2018, she announced her retirement from politics.

Private

Lesjak is single and has a daughter and a son. She lives in Klagenfurt.
