Barbara Schwaighofer (born January 19, 1969 in Kufstein ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. She has been a member of the Tyrolean state parliament since 2013 .

education and profession

Schwaighofer began her training at the elementary school in Niederndorf , which she attended between 1975 and 1979. In 1979 she then moved to the secondary school in Niederndorf, which she graduated in 1983. From 1983 she completed an apprenticeship at a technical school. She finished this housekeeping school at the St. Johann in Tirol state college in 1985. Schwaighofer subsequently started her own business in the textile trade as a knitting and hosiery manufacturer, and since 1998 she has been running an accommodation business in Niederndorf. The guest house - Pension Schwaighofer is located in the Sebi district.

Politics and functions

Schwaighofer has been the local chairwoman of the ÖVP-Wirtschaftsbund in Niederndorf since 2009 and was elected as a member of the unified list to the local council of the ÖVP in Niederndorf in 2010. In Niederndorf she is a substitute member of the community board and a member of the environmental and cultural committee. In 2010 she also became a member of the district executive committee of the ÖVP Kufstein, and in 2011 she also took over the function of district chairman in the Kufstein Economic Association. In the 2013 state elections , Schwaighofer ran for second place in the Kufstein constituency and subsequently entered the state parliament. Schwaighofer's ranking in second place was seen as a surprise by the media, as the “newcomer” was preferred just before Wörgl's Vice Mayor Evelin Treichl. She was sworn in on May 24, 2013 and became a member of the Committee on Petitions, a member of the Committee on Society, Education, Culture and Sport and a member of the Committee on Federalism and European Integration. In addition, she is the family spokeswoman for the ÖVP state parliament club.
