Barbarism
Barbarism (from the same Greek βαρβαρισμός to βάρβαρος , bárbaros : "the stranger, barbarian ") is used:
- in ancient rhetoric for misspelling or incorrect use of a word, see metaplasm
- sometimes in literary studies for the use of foreign language expressions or parts of speech
- sometimes in linguistics , especially by supporters of linguistic purism , for an unnecessary foreign word
