Bardo Herzig

Bardo Herzig (born October 30, 1964 in Bad Driburg ) is a German educational scientist and professor for general didactics and school pedagogy taking into account media pedagogy at the Institute for Educational Science of the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Paderborn . Herzig has been director of the Center for Educational Research and Teacher Training (PLAZ) at the University of Paderborn since 2009.

Career

Born in Bad Driburg, he completed his studies in physics and computer science - first at Bielefeld University , then at Paderborn University - and graduated in 1992 with the first state examination for secondary levels I and II. From 1992 to 1997 Bardo Herzig worked as a research assistant in the working group “General Didactics and Media Education” and from 1994 to 1995 as a lecturer at the Evangelical Further Education Institute in Münster. In 1997 he received his doctorate in educational science in Paderborn, with Gerhard Tulodziecki . Until 2002 he was a research assistant at his chair. At the same time, he held teaching positions at the University of Osnabrück from 1999 to 2003 and until 2002 was a lecturer in the “VorLauf” course at the FernUniversität Hagen . After his habilitation and the award of the venia legendi in educational science, Bardo Herzig took on a substitute professorship for the theory of schools and teaching in Hagen. From 2004 to 2006 he held the chair for teaching and learning research with a focus on new media at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Since 2006 he has been Professor of General Didactics and School Pedagogy, taking media pedagogy into account, at the Institute for Educational Science in the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Paderborn.

Research priorities and projects

Bardo Herzig's research focuses, among other things, in the areas of teaching and learning with the media, school media education, theory-based development and evaluation of learning environments, media behavior and experience of children and adolescents as well as the theory of media education and media literacy.

Bardo Herzig was and is involved in numerous research projects (selection):

  • 2016–2019: REDiB - interaction design for reflective experience in an educational context (DFG - German Research Foundation)
  • 2012–2015: M³K - modeling and measurement of media pedagogical competence (BMBF - Federal Ministry of Education and Research)
  • 2005–2006: Meta study of media use in schools (Deutsche Telekom AG, Federal Ministry of Education and Research)
  • 2004: Increase in the efficiency of mathematical and natural science teaching (development of a dissemination program for SINUS-Transfer NRW) (State Institute for School NRW, Federal-State Commission for Educational Planning and Research Funding)
  • 2004: New media in education (evaluation of the school funding area) (Federal Ministry of Education and Research)

Functions

From 2006 to 2009, Bardo Herzig headed the Institute for Educational Science at the University of Paderborn. Since 2009 he has been director of the Center for Educational Research and Teacher Training (PLAZ) at the University of Paderborn.
