Barina Waqa
Barina Waqa is Secretary for Multi-Cultural Affairs in the Department of Justice and Border Control in Nauru . She is Nauru's first female lawyer.
2006 Waqa received a scholarship ( Australian Regional Development Scholarship ) by Australia Awards for Development and earned a degree in Law at the University of the South Pacific in Vanuatu . She previously held the position of Principal Legal Officer in the Department of Justice and Border Control.
In 2011 she received another scholarship from the Australian Bar Association , after which she was able to complete a trial advocacy course in Western Australia .
