Barkåker is a small town in the south of Norway , which is subordinate to the municipality of Tønsberg and the province ( Fylke ) Vestfold og Telemark . In 2013 it had 1,574 inhabitants.

Barkåker is about 5 kilometers north of Tønsberg, the capital of the municipality of the same name. A few kilometers to the east is the west bank of the Oslofjord . The Norwegian capital Oslo is located about 100 kilometers northwest and is connected to Barkåker by European route 18 .

The place is on the Vestfoldbanen railway line , but the stop has been closed.

Barkåker has its own primary school.
