Barmer Confession Synod

The Barmen Confessing Synod took place from May 29 to 31, 1934 in the Gemarker Kirche Wuppertal - Barmen and was the constituent synod of the Confessing Church and the first of four Confession Synods of the Confessing Church at the time of National Socialism. It is considered to be one of the most important events in recent church history. It culminated in the Barmer Theological Declaration .

138 synodals took part in the Barmer Confession Synod, including one woman. 11 synodals formed the working committee of the synod, one was appointed by the working committee. The remaining 126 participants were sent by the 25 regional churches.
