Barn Islands is a small uninhabited group of islands off the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The archipelago is located 64 km southwest of Haast and west of Barn Bay and 1.26 km northwest of the mouth of the Hope River in the Tasman Sea . By far the largest island in the group has a length of 212 m and a maximum width of 53 m and rises almost 40 m above sea level. Some of the other islands protrude vertically like pinnacles from the sea.
Administratively, the archipelago is part of the Westland District of the West Coast region .
