The Barneck manor was halfway between Leutzsch and Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, southeast of the connecting road and about five kilometers from the center of Leipzig. Today's Barneck residential area, which is integrated in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, has a tram connection to downtown Leipzig due to its location on Leipziger Strasse and an S-Bahn connection due to its proximity to the Leutzsch S-Bahn station.

history

Barneck was first mentioned as Parnik in 1285 . After various leaseholdings and owners, the council of the city of Leipzig bought Barneck together with the villages of Leutzsch and Schönau in 1537 . Around 1650 Barneck consisted of four farm estates, of which Johann Graf acquired three by 1692. In 1766, Hofrat Johann Wilhelm Richter bought all four and combined them into one estate with an agricultural area of 116 hectares including forest and meadows. In 1786 he built a manor house for the estate. His son-in-law, Chamber Councilor Heinrich Gottfried Honig, went bankrupt with the estate in 1817. In 1890 the estate and its surrounding buildings had 86 inhabitants.

After a few intermediate owners, it came to the real estate bank in 1900. From this in 1907 the landlord Emil Roesch bought the manor house, the farm buildings and the garden and had the manor house rebuilt to its current form - with the monogram ER above the entrance. In the course of the 20th century, the farm buildings were torn down and houses were built over. In 2008 the manor house, which was used as a residential building, was renovated.

Until 1815 Barneck belonged to the office of Schkeuditz , then to the office of Leipzig , from 1856 to the court office Leipzig II and from 1875 to the administrative authority of Leipzig . In 1908 Barneck was incorporated into Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, with which it had already grown structurally, and with this in 1999 to Leipzig.

In 1873 a station was opened near Barneck on the Leipzig – Großkorbetha railway line, which was initially named Barneck before it was renamed Leutzsch in 1885.
