Baron Alvanley , of Alvanley in the County of Chester , was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created for Sir Richard Arden on May 22, 1801 . He was a well-known lawyer, judge and politician of his time. From 1788 to 1801 he held the post of Master of the Rolls and from 1802 was a judge at the Court of Common Pleas .

The title expired in 1857 with the death of his second eldest son, the 3rd Baron, who had previously succeeded his brother.
