Uzovská Panica (1927-1948 Slovak "Uzovská Panita" - until 1927 "Panitová"; Hungarian Uzapanyit ) is a municipality in the south-center of Slovakia with 824 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), in the Okres Rimavská Sobota , a district des Banskobystrický kraj , and is part of the Gemer landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Rimavská kotlina basin , part of the larger Juhoslovenská kotlina unit , in the valley of the Blh river . The municipal area is mostly deforested, with small remnants of the oak forest in the east. There are ponds to the northwest of the main town. The center of the village is at an altitude of 191 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Rimavská Sobota .
The settlement Semsúrov (Hungarian : Szemszúrópuszta ), west of the main town, also belongs to the municipality .
Neighboring municipalities are Veľký Blh in the north, Vyšné Valice in the northeast, Gemerské Michalovce in the east, Rakytník in the southeast, Tomášovce in the south, Rimavská Sobota (more precisely the district of Bakta ) in the southwest and again Veľký Blh in the west.
history
The current place was probably built in the 12th century on the site of an older settlement; in the 13th century the area belonged to the dominion of the castle Blh . The first written mention comes from 1427 as Panith , at that time the place was owned by the Úsz family . In 1435 the Méhy family owned goods in the village, after which various landowners changed until the 18th century. During the Turkish wars the village fell into disrepair, so that in 1720 only 11 farmers lived in the village. In 1828 there were 82 houses and 646 inhabitants, in 1837 there were already 739 inhabitants. The main source of income was and is agriculture.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Between 1938 and 1944 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .
From 1964 to 1990 the neighboring town of Rokytník (now Rakytník) was part of the municipality.

According to the 2011 census, Uzovská Panica had 709 inhabitants, including 332 Magyars, 162 Roma, 146 Slovaks and 1 German and 1 Czech. 5 residents indicated a different ethnic group and 62 residents gave no information about the ethnic group.
505 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 77 residents to the Reformed Church, 11 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 5 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and 1 resident to the Old Catholic Church and the Greek Catholic Church; 1 resident confessed to another denomination. 34 residents were without a denomination and the denomination of 74 residents was not determined.
