history

Bottovo is a relative start-up as it did not emerge until the 1920s in the first Czechoslovak Republic. The place was founded on a piece of land that previously belonged to the Coburg family and was populated mainly by Slovaks from northern Slovakia ( Arwa , Liptau ) and Czechs. Finally, the municipality was created in 1926 from parts of Dubovec, Cakov and Rimavská Seč .

After the First Vienna Arbitration , the colonists had to leave the place, which immediately came back to Dubovec, which was Hungarian at the time. After the Second World War the Slovaks returned, and in 1951 Bottovo regained independence. In 1962 a small reservoir was created east of Bottovo. Agriculture remains the main source of income for the population to this day.
