Veľké Teriakovce (up to 1927 Slovak "Veľké Terjakovce"; Hungarian Bakostörék ) is a municipality in the south-center of Slovakia with 831 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which lies in the Okres Rimavská Sobota , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj , and is in the countryside Gemer is counted.
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Rimavská kotlina basin (part of the Juhoslovenská kotlina ) on the central reaches of the Rimava . The municipality is hilly and only a small part of it is forested. The center of the village is at an altitude of 247 m nm and is seven kilometers from Rimavská Sobota .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into parts of the municipality Krásna, Malé Teriakovce, Veľké Teriakovce and Vrbovce nad Rimavou.
Neighboring municipalities are Hrachovo in the north, Nižný Skálnik in the northeast, Rimavská Sobota (district Vyšná Pokoradz) in the east, Čerenčany in the southeast, Rimavská Sobota in the south, Kružno in the southwest and Sušany in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Turek in 1334 ; other ancient names are Inferior Thewrek (1515), Terjakowce (1773) and Bakaj Terjakowce (1786). The village belonged to the Archbishop of Kalocsa , then the Széchy , Mikófalvy and others. In 1828 there were 46 houses and 493 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture, fruit growing and pottery.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
In 1963 the previously independent places Malé Teriakovce , Nižný Skálnik and Vrbovce nad Rimavou were incorporated; the second-named place spun off again in 1990.
population
According to the 2011 census, Veľké Teriakovce had 887 inhabitants, including 740 Slovaks, 32 Roma, 29 Magyars, three Czechs and two Moravians. 81 residents did not provide any information. 418 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 163 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 17 residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church, six residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, four residents to the Reformed Church, three residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Old Catholic Church and the Apostolic Church; one resident was of a different denomination. 162 inhabitants were without religious denomination and the denomination of 111 inhabitants has not been determined.
