Tachty (up to 1948 Slovak "Tajty"; Hungarian Tajti ) is a municipality in the south-center of Slovakia with 557 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which lies in the Okres Rimavská Sobota , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj , and is part of the Gemer region is counted.
geography
The village is located in the Cerová vrchovina mountain range on the upper reaches of the Gortva , which rises below the Teplý vrch mountain ( 427 m nm ). The river is also dammed in the 24 hectare Tachty reservoir. The state border with Hungary runs in an arc south of the village . The center of the village is at an altitude of 311 m nm and is 23 kilometers from Salgótarján in Hungary, 25 kilometers from Fiľakovo and 43 kilometers from Rimavská Sobota .
Neighboring municipalities are Večelkov and Nová Bašta in the north, Studená in the northeast, Cered (H) in the east and south, Salgótarján (H) in the west and again Večelkov in the northwest.
history
In 1290 Tachty was one of several settlements that stood around the Church of St. Nicholas in the neighboring town of Nová Bašta. It is mentioned in writing as Thathyley as an independent place in 1399 , at that time as part of the territory of the Hajnáčka Castle near the place of the same name . Later the village was owned by the Tajty family . During the Turkish Wars, Tachty was razed to the ground in the late 16th century and again in 1683. The village was repopulated around the middle of the 18th century. In 1828 there were 32 houses and 292 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Between 1938 and 1944 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Tachty had 524 inhabitants, including 494 Magyars, 9 Slovaks and 4 Roma. 17 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.
494 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 4 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and 1 resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses. 9 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 21 residents was not determined.

After Slovakia and Hungary joined the Schengen Agreement in 2007, a cross-border road was built between Tachty and the Hungarian Cered.
